What you need to know

Your time to respond is limited

In Arkansas you generally have 30 days after you are served to file an answer. If you miss that deadline, the company can get a judgment against you without proving its case, and a judgment can lead to garnishment of your wages and bank accounts.

I know these cases from the inside

For years I handled hundreds of collection lawsuits on the creditors' side. I know how they are filed, what paperwork the company needs, and where those cases are weakest. That experience now works for you, whether the right answer is fighting the case, negotiating a settlement you can afford, or setting up a payment plan.

Lawsuits I handle

Credit card lawsuits by Capital One, Citibank, American Express, Bank of America, Barclays and other banks, and suits by debt buyers such as LVNV Funding, Midland Credit Management and Portfolio Recovery, in circuit and district courts throughout Arkansas.

How it works

1. Send me your papers. Email the complaint and summons to todd@jonesfirm.org or fax them to 501-588-3106. A phone photo is fine. 2. Free case review. I review your case and call you to go over your deadline and your options, at no charge. 3. A plan for your case. If you hire me, I file your answer on time and handle the case from there.

Common questions

Should I just pay what they are asking? Not before someone reviews the case. The amount demanded may include charges the company cannot prove, and many cases settle for less or are dismissed. Can they garnish my wages? Only after they get a judgment. Responding to the lawsuit on time is how you keep that from happening without a fight. What if I already missed the deadline? Call right away. Depending on what has happened in the case, there may still be options.

I got a letter from you. Is this real?

Yes. Lawsuits are public court records, and I write to people who have recently been sued. If you already have a lawyer, please disregard the letter. Otherwise, call 501-242-0330 or email todd@jonesfirm.org for a free review of your case.
